The Greater Cleveland Flute Society is hosting Mary Kay Fink for a recital and a mastery class!
Noted piccoloist and flutist Mary Kay Fink is the Greater Cleveland Flute Society's special guest for this fall's recital and mastery class. Join us on Sunday, November 23, at The Music Settlement, 11125 Magnolia, Cleveland, at 1:00 p.m.
GCFS will sponsor a recorded competition for the opportunity to perform. Up to 3 performers will be chosen from the recorded auditions. Performers may submit audition pieces on flute or piccolo.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to any age flutist.
AUDITION PROCEDURES: A MP3 file or video recording shared via Google Drive to
greaterclevelandflutesociety@gmail.com, 5-10 minutes in length, along with a brief bio of the performer, must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET Friday, October 24. Compositions written for flute and piano must be performed with piano. The recording must not be spliced or edited. Please ensure that your submissions do not require permissions to view them.
Winners will be notified by Wednesday, October 29.
ACCOMPANIST: Masterclass performers shall provide their own accompanist for November 23.
APPLICATION FEE: The application fee will be waived for 2025-2026 GCFS members. Non-members must enclose a check $20, payable to GCFS or via PayPal

Mary Kay Fink joined The Cleveland Orchestra as piccoloist in 1990 and has appeared as a soloist with the orchestra on numerous occasions. Previously, she has been a member of the New Jersey Symphony, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and Seito-Kinen Festival Orchestra. In addition, she has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and Milwaukee Symphony. She was Associate Professor of Flute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1988-89), flute instructor at Baldwin Wallace College (1994-99), and has been on the Cleveland Institute of Music faculty since 1991.
In 1986, she won first prize in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and has been invited to many of the National Flute Conventions as a featured performer. Next summer she will premiere a new piccolo concerto by Lisa Bost at the NFA convention in Portland. She holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School.
