Join Certified Yoga Teacher (and GCFS President) Cathy Spicer for an online event as she leads you through a short yoga practice with postures designed to help the specific challenges that musicians face.
In this workshop, we'll be focusing on breathing, some gentle stretches, and some strength building poses.
This class is designed for all levels of ability and modifications will be offered for the postures if needed.
If you've never practiced yoga before, this workshop will be a gentle introduction to this type of practice. For the experienced yogi, this will help you think of asanas that you can do to enhance your musical performance.
What you'll need for this class:
- Wear clothing that allows for a full range of movement.
- Yoga is usually done barefoot, but if that is not an option for you, make sure you are wearing shoes that do not allow you to slide.
- A yoga mat (if you do not have a yoga mat, you can practice on a carpeted surface, again, using caution that you do not slide).
- If getting up and down off the ground is not available to you, please have a chair you can sit on -- one without wheels and without arms -- that you can place on a surface where you won't slide.
- A yoga strap (if you don't have a strap, you can use a cloth belt or a polyblend scarf).
- Some of the postures may involve twisting and bending a little, so it's advised that you eat at least 30 minutes before you practice.
RSVP by November 7. The link to the class will be provided to registered attendees on Nov. 8
